We developed the DTNW STARS Competitive Team Program as an accelerated learning program for dancers with talent, drive, and commitment. DTNW STARS Company Competitive Team is comprised of dancers ages 6-18. These dancers will compete in local competitions and if they qualify according to DTNW’s guidelines, they have the opportunity to compete at Spotlight’s Nationals in Seaside, OR.  

Purpose 

The purpose of DTNW STARS Company Competitive Team is to provide our most dedicated dancers with a well-rounded, professional dance experience. That experience includes these key elements: 

*Accelerated training: DTNW STARS Company Competitive Team dancers learn their skills earlier, at an accelerated pace, and with higher standards of perfection. The mandatory technique classes give dancers the opportunity to develop their skills and technique while learning challenging choreography. 

*A family-like environment: DTNW STARS Company Competitive Team perform age-appropriate dances and enjoy a sense of belonging to a team, which is critical to their social development at a time in their lives when friends are very important to them.  

Our main goal is to use dance as a vehicle to teach life lessons that will have value in any vocation our dancers may choose when they grow up.  Lesser goals include teaching them about all aspects of performing, helping them to become comfortable experiencing new things, guiding them in learning to set and work intelligently towards achieving their goals and encouraging them to compare themselves not to others, but to who they were yesterday! 

Most kids who excel in our programs share these characteristics:
