I have danced many roles with the Spokane Youth Ballet including LA Boutique Fantastique, The nutcracker, Toy Shelf, A midsummer Nights Dream and many more beloved ballets. I have extensive training in teaching classical ballet as I was mentored by the esteemed Peggy Goodner-Tan and Phaedra Jarrett. I want to help everyone LOVE ballet like I do. I have always been deeply attached to ballet and love to bring the joy of dancing to everyone. It is a pleasure and a privilege to be back in the studio and to be teaching!

Miss Aeralyn Petersen
STARS company team co-director and coach, Premier Dance Team coach, Choreographer, and Instructor

Aeralyn has coached competitve dance for 4 years, and she can’t get enough! Coaching is truly her passion.
She did not begin dancing until later in life, at age 15. But she fell in love with the art, and has not stopped pursuing it since.

During the handful of years she has had in the dance world, she has developed a passion for teaching young minds to grow in confidence through movement and self-expression. She wishes to teach people to love themselves and how capable they are of achieving impressive physical and mental skills no matter what. Being apart of DTNW has been a wonderful place for Aeralyn to continue to grow as a teacher and mentor.

Mrs. Julia Sternburg
Instructor

Mrs. Julia comes from a family of dancers hailing from Bend, Oregon. Growing up, she spent almost as much time at the dance studio as she did at home, training in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and modern from ages three to nineteen. When she was 17, she began teaching at her home studio and quickly discovered she had a passion for teaching. Since then, she has had the opportunity to teach a range of ages and styles. Julia’s day job is being a mom to a beautiful baby boy and a wife. When she is not on baby duty, she can be found writing, baking, singing, dancing or exploring the outdoors with her family.

Mrs. Jessie Tulleners
Instructor

Jessie grew up in Rathdrum and has been involved in the performing arts since she was a little girl.  Dancing her way through every style that was available in her area (including Irish soft shoe, African and multiple styles of Ballroom), she decided to take an 8 year break to learn gymnastics, but her heart brought her back to dance.  Jessie graduated with honors from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance/Choreography in 2015.
Jessie began choreographing in 2007.  Since then, she has choreographed multiple award winning routines for competitive dance and has been choreographing gymnastic floor routines for 19 years.  She has also choreographed for musical theater, women’s physique competitions and more.
Jessie is now living in the Coeur d’ Alene area and just started her 4th season as a professional dancer with Ripple Dance Company and became the Assistant Artistic Director in 2023.

Mrs. Brandy Kord
Front Desk

Hi there! I’m Brandy Kord – proud wife, mom of three, lifelong educator, coach, and now one of the smiling faces you’ll see at the Dance Theatre Northwest front desk!

Over the past year, I’ve enjoyed helping out at the front desk of another local business, and before that, I ran my very own tumbling program while my kids were little. My passion for working with children and families has always been at the heart of everything I do.

Two of my daughters have been dancing with Dance Theatre Northwest for the past three years, so I already feel like a part of the family—and now I’m excited to be part of the team too! I can’t wait to get to know each of you and support you in your dance journey. Be sure to stop by and say hello!

Let’s make it a great season!

Miss Emma Goad

She is super excited to be choreographing for our DTNW Company Team!

Mrs. Angela Mitchell
STARS Mini Company coach, Instructor & Choreographer

Angela Mitchell grew up and trained in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to Spokane in 2025.
She has studied many styles of dance starting at the age of three, including ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, and more. Growing up in competitive dance studios, Angela started competing at the age of nine in a tap company, where she toured and performed in multiple cities. With her tap group, Angela took many master classes in a variety of styles. Angela started teaching dance to various ages in 2013 and would later become the Mini Company Director for a local studio. While studying dance education at Grand Canyon University, she continued teaching while also performing in the GCU faculty and student choreographed shows. Within the last few years, Angela has choreographed for multiple tap competition teams and studios across the Phoenix area, winning awards and scholarships. She has also stage managed ballet productions for a prominent ballet school, and offered administrative support to the studios where she has worked, focusing on curriculum and marketing. In the classroom, Angela strives to make class a fun and safe space where the students are comfortable trying new things. She strives to get to know each student and their goals so she can support their growth and “become their biggest cheerleader.”

Miss Lilly Kord
Instructor

Hi! My name is Lily Kord. I’m proud to be a daughter and an older sister to two wonderful younger siblings who keep me inspired every day. Dance has been a part of my life since I was just five years old, and it has become one of my biggest passions. I’ve been training at Dance Theatre Northwest since 2022, where I’ve had the opportunity to grow not only as a dancer, but also as a mentor and leader.

In 2024, I began working as a student teacher, a role I continued through 2025. It was such a rewarding experience to help younger dancers learn and build their confidence. Now, I’m thrilled to be one of the smiling faces you’ll often see around the studio—whether in the classroom, helping out backstage, or offering encouragement to students. Since 2023, I’ve also been coaching and teaching children in both dance and gymnastics. I truly love working with kids, helping them discover their strengths, and watching them grow not just in technique, but in self-expression and joy for movement. I’m incredibly excited to get to know each of you and to be part of your dance journey. Whether you’re just starting out or continuing to grow as a performer, I’m here to support you every step of the way!
